and, I have it on very good authority, an amazing community builder. Here’s Jenny’s advice about looking at community everywhere differently.

Jenny’s advice:
“My biggest lesson of 2023 is to not only adopt, but embrace, the community everywhere mindset. Coined by Richard Millington, this idea embodies that community no longer takes place in just a forum or Slack channel, but exists everywhere your community members congregate. Being more fluid with where and how you meet your community will open up opportunities and enable you to connect with more folks than ever before, and provide value to them.
As someone whose background is in forum community management, adjusting to different types of community engagement felt awkward at first, but has made me a more agile community professional. It also opens up the possibility of creating communities for folks who don't want to hang out in one space online (much like how all humans operate these days!).
Embrace the change and know that your work is just as valuable no matter where you're building a community.”
I agree with Jenny - community is everywhere. Meeting your members in ways that make sense for THEM to connect is a huge part of community building. We all don’t do things the same way and we all shouldn’t community the same way either.
