    Defining the Community Sweet Spot

Successful communities are built at the intersection of organizational goals and member needs. According to insights shared at London Community Week 2025, many community managers fail because they "throw spaghetti at the wall" without a clear direction. To avoid this, leaders must first gain absolute clarity on what the organization expects to deliver and what metrics will define success.

The strategy involves a rigorous overlap of two distinct spheres: what the company (e.g., Butter) wants to achieve and what the potential target audience expects to gain. The "sweet spot" is the unique overlap between these two circles. Activities should only be prioritized if they provide value to both sides.

"I really wanted to gain clarity on what is it that Butter expects or wants from this community... finding the sweet spot, the overlap, is where I went looking for our community purpose."
