Engagement Techniques: From Pure Fun to Radical Kindness
Community engagement is often viewed through the lens of marketing funnels, but the most enduring bonds are often built during moments of "pure fun" or shared altruism. At London Community Week 2025, speakers shared practical methods for mobilizing communities through joy and kindness.
The Case for 'No-Agenda' Events
Events without an upsell or a "point" are essential for building genuine appreciation. One such example involved a low-budget, high-energy live stream featuring "hideous glittery gold jackets" and a handcrafted game show wheel. "There was no other point to it... we were giving out prizes, interacting with people, and it was so, so fun," the speaker recalled. These moments of unscripted joy can result in massive engagement, such as the 2,000 live participants noted in the session.
