Value is a feeling, not a feature list

Your value proposition got them in the door. It will not keep them in the room. The list of benefits you published on your website is a ghost, a half-remembered promise from the day they entered their credit card details. Now, months later, that promise is being judged against reality.

There are two value propositions. The first is the one you write. It’s the pitch. It speaks of access, resources, networking, and discounts. It does the important job of converting a prospect into a member. But its power fades the moment the welcome email is sent.

The second, more important one, is the 'realised value proposition'. This is the sum of every interaction, every answer found, every connection made, and every problem solved since that person joined. It is the lived experience of membership. The gap between the pitch and the reality is where churn is born. Your job in communicating member value is not to repeat the pitch. It is to constantly and consistently close that gap.
