Accessible self-paced customer learning gives people workable ways to reach the information, perform the intended task and obtain useful feedback. Examine the complete route, not only the lesson format. Plan for different access needs, interruptions and support requirements, then test whether learners can complete the experience without unnecessary barriers.
Removing a scheduled meeting does not automatically make learning easier to use. A customer may still face an unclear starting point, an unusable resource or an activity that requires an interaction unrelated to the skill they came to learn.
Plan access around the complete learning task
Begin with the capability the experience promises and trace the route from invitation to completion. Include access, instructions, resources, practice, feedback and help. A well-designed lesson cannot compensate for an entry process that prevents someone from reaching it or a required activity they cannot complete.
