Community Operations Lead

ABOUT THE ROLE:
In this role, youâll be on the Platform team, and responsible for supporting the growth and development of FirstMarkâs various communities, both online and in-person. Youâll explore new ways to leverage AI, build automations and develop processes that increase team efficiency, while ensuring we capture and report on relevant data. Youâll source, invite, and onboard new community members that fit our criteria, moderate community forums, support successful event execution, and manage our community databases. Youâll also support FirstMarkâs various summits, various special projects that impact our communities, founders, and investment team, and help to come up with (and execute) new community projects and products that will drive significant value for our portfolio and brand. This is a critical role that has a direct impact on our portfolio, investment team, and the broader venture-backed technology ecosystem.
ROLE TYPE: In-office (5 days/week)
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
AI & Automation
Audit existing workflows to determine where AI and automation can be leveraged to streamline or improve operations, and then create/implement, and report on those improvements
Data & Reporting
Ensure we are properly capturing all relevant data across all community and events projects and initiatives.
Create and share regular reports that show clear results, ROI, KPI tracking, etc.
Maintain and update our various community databases (currently in Airtable)
Research
Conduct research to ensure we are always focusing on the right people, companies and subject matter across our communities and events.
Maintain and update our âunicorn listâ â the list of people and companies we aspire to have represented in our various communities â on an ongoing basis
Ensure the speakers and topics we are featuring across our various communities are always highly relevant, impactful, and attracting the top 20% of our members to attend/engage.

Events
Assist the planning and execution of FirstMarkâs various events and summits, both in-person and virtual
Work with our events team to be the bridge between communities and events, in terms of attendees, themes, curation, etc.
Discover and pilot new AI-based technologies and capabilities to improve our communities and elevate the member experience
Always be proactively looking for ways we can increase our efficiency and scale our community efforts
Special Projects
Support strategic special projects that arise during the year, which could include surveys, reports, new community launches, content (i.e. podcasts), and more.
WHO YOU ARE:
You have 4+ years experience in community management, marketing, partnerships, marketing operations, revenue operations, or similar.
You have operations experience and are familiar with platforms like Zapier, Airtable, GSuite, Webflow, Wordpress, etc.
You are currently experimenting with and/or leveraging AI in various ways, either in your free time or in your current position.
You are eager to learn new things and you stay on top of new technologies, startup news, etc.
You are extremely organized, process-minded and detail-oriented â spelling and grammar issues never make it through to final drafts.
People skills come naturally to youâyouâre energized by building relationships and helping others make meaningful connections.
You are very curious and a fast learner with a desire to learn about new technologies, trends, companies, etc.
You have analytical skills that enable you to efficiently extract insights from event recordings, surveys, or other data sources, know whatâs interesting and what isnât, and communicate insights out in an impactful, but easily digestible way.
You are a creative problem-solver and thinker â you like to come up with new ideas and are always looking for ways things can be improved.
You bias towards action and focus on outcomes over outputs. You recognize and avoid vanity metrics at all costs.
Youâre good at having strong opinions loosely held, working cross-functionally, and always seeking feedback on your work.
