Armstrong Wolfe | Financial Services Executive Communities

Location: Eldersfield, Gloucestershire, GL19 4NP (planned relocation to Cheltenham in Q1 2028) Salary: £28,000–£33,000 per annum, depending on experience Employment: Full-time, permanent Reporting to: Chief of Staff

    About Armstrong Wolfe

Armstrong Wolfe is an established international membership and advisory business working with senior executives across the global banking, asset management and financial services industries.

Through our professional communities, executive forums, industry events and leadership development programmes, we bring together senior professionals to share knowledge, address common challenges and build lasting relationships.

Our activities span the UK, Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, connecting financial services leaders through a shared commitment to collaboration, professional development and industry-wide progress.

    The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised and self-motivated Events & Community Manager who enjoys taking ownership, making things happen and seeing responsibilities through from beginning to end.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining event management, logistics, community coordination and project delivery. It offers the opportunity to take genuine responsibility, work closely with senior colleagues and contribute directly to the success of our international executive communities.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will work across Armstrong Wolfe, supporting different teams and programmes rather than being assigned exclusively to one community.

You will be expected to develop quickly into a position where you can independently plan, coordinate and deliver professional events, while working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistently high standards.

An important aspect of the position is developing a working understanding of our principal membership communities. This will enable you to provide effective support and, when required, temporarily assume responsibility for their day-to-day coordination during colleagues' absence, ensuring continuity of service to our members.

We are not expecting you to arrive knowing everything about our business. We are, however, looking for someone who learns quickly, asks the right questions, takes the initiative and progressively becomes a trusted and dependable member of the team.

We anticipate that the successful candidate may have around 3–4 years of relevant professional experience, although we would equally welcome applications from more experienced individuals attracted by the breadth, autonomy and opportunities offered by the role.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Event Management & Logistics • Take responsibility for the planning, organisation and successful delivery of in-person and virtual executive events, forums, roundtables and networking sessions. • Manage event logistics from initial planning through to post-event follow-up, ensuring a professional experience for all participants. • Coordinate with member organisations, venues, speakers, suppliers and internal colleagues to ensure all event requirements are met. • Manage invitations, registrations, attendee communications, seating plans, presentation facilities and event materials. • Work collaboratively with Community Managers and other colleagues, coordinating the contributions required to deliver successful events. • Independently manage assigned events, anticipating potential issues and resolving them proactively. • Ensure the timely completion of post-event activities, including feedback, meeting minutes, action tracking and follow-up communications.

    2. Cross-Business Community Support • Work across Armstrong Wolfe's professional communities, supporting their event programmes, member engagement and operational activities. • Develop a sound understanding of the membership, objectives, stakeholders and annual programme of each community. • Provide additional capacity to Community Managers during periods of high activity or competing priorities. • Assume temporary responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of designated communities during colleagues' annual leave or other planned absences, ensuring continuity of service to members. • Maintain accurate member records, activity reports, event schedules and follow-up actions. • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across the business, contributing to consistent standards, shared knowledge and operational efficiency.

    3. Programme & Project Delivery

Alongside event and community responsibilities, you will support the delivery of selected business projects.

Women in the COO Community (WCOOC) • Support the development and implementation of a structured Continuous Professional Development programme for emerging and aspiring leaders within the financial services industry. • Coordinate programme schedules, participant communications, attendance records and certification administration. • Assist with the planning and delivery of WCOOC events and initiatives across EMEA and, where required, Asia-Pacific.

Asset & Wealth Management Community • Support the delivery of quarterly executive forums and related member activities. • Coordinate member engagement, event preparation and follow-up. • Assist with the migration and onboarding of community members onto Armstrong Wolfe's COO Exchange digital platform.

Wider Business Initiatives • Support other defined projects under the direction of the Chief of Staff. • Identify opportunities to improve event processes, operational coordination and member experience. • Contribute to the development of practical systems and procedures that support efficient working across the business.

    4. Ownership & Independent Delivery

An important expectation of this role is the ability to take responsibility for an activity or project and manage it through to successful completion.

This means: • Taking ownership of agreed outcomes, rather than simply completing individual tasks. • Planning ahead, identifying what needs to happen and ensuring the right people are engaged at the right time. • Following up proactively with colleagues, members and external partners to maintain momentum and meet deadlines. • Exercising sound judgement, resolving routine challenges independently and knowing when to seek guidance or escalate an issue. • Keeping colleagues informed of progress, risks and decisions without requiring constant supervision. • Taking pride in the quality of the finished result and ensuring no important detail is overlooked.

We value people who are comfortable being accountable for delivery, while recognising that successful outcomes depend on effective teamwork and collaboration.

    About You

You will be someone who naturally takes responsibility, enjoys bringing order to complexity and gets satisfaction from delivering a job well done.

You are comfortable working independently, but equally recognise the importance of collaboration. You do not need to be the most experienced person in the room, but you should have the confidence to ask questions, offer suggestions, make decisions within your remit and take action.

You will be resourceful, adaptable and able to balance competing priorities without losing sight of deadlines or quality. Importantly, you will be someone colleagues can rely upon to follow through on commitments.

We are interested in what you have achieved and the responsibilities you have taken, not simply the number of years you have worked.

Essential Skills & Experience • Relevant experience in event management, event coordination, project delivery, community management or a comparable professional environment. • Demonstrable ability to organise activities, manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines. • Confidence in taking ownership of events and coordinating the work of others to achieve successful outcomes. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the professionalism to engage with senior executives and external stakeholders. • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail. • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to exercise initiative. • Adaptability and willingness to learn new areas of the business. • Competence in Microsoft Office and confidence working with digital platforms, databases and CRM systems. • A collaborative mindset, combined with personal accountability for delivering results.

Desirable Experience • Experience within financial services, professional membership organisations, executive networks or B2B events. • Experience working with international stakeholders or geographically dispersed teams. • Familiarity with professional development programmes, membership platforms or event management systems. • Previous responsibility for independently managing events or small projects.

Financial services experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We place particular value on initiative, reliability, professional judgement and a willingness to take responsibility.

    What Success Looks Like

Within the first few months, we would expect the successful candidate to have developed a strong understanding of Armstrong Wolfe's activities and established effective working relationships across the team.

As confidence and experience develop, success will be demonstrated by: • Independently managing and delivering assigned events to a consistently high standard. • Building the knowledge and relationships necessary to support multiple Armstrong Wolfe communities. • Providing dependable continuity of community activities when colleagues are absent. • Taking ownership of project deliverables and meeting agreed deadlines. • Demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and the ability to anticipate and resolve problems. • Contributing positively to a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team.

    Why Join Armstrong Wolfe?

Armstrong Wolfe offers the opportunity to work within a growing international business, engaging with senior professionals across the global financial services industry.

As part of a relatively small team, your contribution will be visible and meaningful. You will have the opportunity to develop your professional skills, gain exposure to different aspects of the business and take increasing ownership of events, programmes and projects.

We value individuals who demonstrate initiative, take pride in their work and recognise the importance of delivering on commitments.
